Twitter After Dark Gets HOT and Steamy :)

Looking to let off a little steam without actually having a "Booty Call"? Curl up in the bed, and hop on "Twitter After Dark". Twitter after dark is the latest social media trend to hit Twitter. Many adults (even children) are up late on the site, sharing photos and sending flirtatious tweets to one another.

Idris Elba was spotted participating in episode of Twitter After Dark after he mistakenly tweeted a photo to his 204,000 followers.

However, seeing that Elba has yet to remove the photo from his twitter, I'm guessing it wasn't a mistake after all.

Grown Women vs Little Girls, Do you Agree?

Recently I came across a list that defined the actions of Women vs. Girls. Its safe to say that women are completely different from men- thats a good thing! We are more prone to express our feelings for those we love and sometimes our emotions can become overwhelming. So how do you know you've matured from a Girl to a Woman? According to this list, when a Girl has matured into a woman you can expect the following:
  1. Girls want 2 control the man n their life. Grown Women no that if he's truly hers, he doesn't nd controlling.
  2. Girls check u for not calling them. Grown women are too busy to realize u hadn't.
  3. Girls are afraid to be alone. Grown women revel in it using it as a time for personal growth.
  4. Girls ignore the good guys. Grown women ignore the bad guys.
  5. Girls make you come home. Grown women make you want to come home.
  6. Girls leave their schedule wide-open and wait for a guy to call and make plans.
  7. Grown women make their own plans and nicely tell the guy to get in where he fits.
  8. Girls worry about not being pretty and/or good enough for their man.
  9. Grown women know that they are pretty and/or good enough for any man.
  10. Girls try to monopolize all their man's time (i.e., don't want him hanging with his friends). Grown women realize that a lil' bit of space makes the 'together time' even more special-and goes to kick it with her own friends.
  11. Girls think a guy crying is weak. Grown women offer their shoulder and a tissue.
  12. Girls want to be spoiled and 'tell' their man so. Grown women 'show' him and make him comfortable enough to reciprocate without fear of losing his 'manhood'.
  13. Girls get hurt by one man and make all men pay for it. Grown women know that was just one man.
  14. Girls fall in love and chase aimlessly after the object of their affection, ignoring all 'signs'. Grown women know that sometimes the one you love, don't always love you back-and move on, without bitterness.

Troy Davis' Last Words

Despite the petitions, letters and calls that  supporters made on behalf of  convicted murderer Troy Davis, he was executed last night, September 21st, at 11:08 pm. The controversial case, which involved the shooting of an officer, centered around all witness testimony, which was later revealed  by more than half of the witnesses as false. Those witnesses who withdrew from their testimonies admitted to being threatened by law enforcement to incriminate Troy Davis. Although supporters of Davis grew hopeful by the 3 hour delay of the execution, Davis life was taken during the early hours in Georgia. Here is Troy Davis' Letter of hope and his execution:

To All:
I want to thank all of you for your efforts and dedication to Human Rights and Human Kindness, in the past year I have experienced such emotion, joy, sadness and never ending faith. It is because of all of you that I am alive today, as I look at my sister Martina I am marveled by the love she has for me and of course I worry about her and her health, but as she tells me she is the eldest and she will not back down from this fight to save my life and prove to the world that I am innocent of this terrible crime.
As I look at my mail from across the globe, from places I have never ever dreamed I would know about and people speaking languages and expressing cultures and religions I could only hope to one day see first hand. I am humbled by the emotion that fills my heart with overwhelming, overflowing Joy. I can’t even explain the insurgence of emotion I feel when I try to express the strength I draw from you all, it compounds my faith and it shows me yet again that this is not a case about the death penalty, this is not a case about Troy Davis, this is a case about Justice and the Human Spirit to see Justice prevail.
I cannot answer all of your letters but I do read them all, I cannot see you all but I can imagine your faces, I cannot hear you speak but your letters take me to the far reaches of the world, I cannot touch you physically but I feel your warmth everyday I exist.
So Thank you and remember I am in a place where execution can only destroy your physical form but because of my faith in God, my family and all of you I have been spiritually free for some time and no matter what happens in the days, weeks to come, this Movement to end the death penalty, to seek true justice, to expose a system that fails to protect the innocent must be accelerated. There are so many more Troy Davis’. This fight to end the death penalty is not won or lost through me but through our strength to move forward and save every innocent person in captivity around the globe. We need to dismantle this Unjust system city by city, state by state and country by country.
I can’t wait to Stand with you, no matter if that is in physical or spiritual form, I will one day be announcing,
” I AM TROY DAVIS, and I AM FREE!”
Never Stop Fighting for Justice and We will Win!
Troy Davis’ last words before he was executed were:
“May God have mercy on your souls.”

" You're Guilty [ Lindsay Lohan] Extremely Bad Judgement."

Lindsay Lohan has been warned for the final time to comply with the terms of her probation.

24-year old  Lohan has been ordered to remain inside of her apartment in Venice Beach until June 29th while she serves time for violating her probation and the theft of a necklace.

At the hearing rumors stirred about Lindsay testing positive to alcohol after a blood test after being seen with a red plastic cup at her last barbecue.

" What you are guilty of is having poor judgement- having parties on the roof. you are not allowed to have parties, you can have one friend over. That is it."  said Judge Stephanie Sautner.

According to Lohans lawyer Shawn Holley's statement to the press, Lohan is now allowed to drink alcohol without violating the terms of her probation.

She said, " Lindsay has done nothing wrong. I feel like you guys are disappointed to hear that, but the reality is she's done everything right this time."

Holley, No one is surprised but more skeptical if anything.

Importance of Black Women and Hair

Importance of Black Women and Hair

Recently there was a debate in one of my classes regarding the time and money Black women invest in their hair. The argument stated "Black women are trying to fit in to the European way of life by using harsh chemicals, such as perms, in order to get that "bone-straight' look, or are spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars a year on extensions because 'long hair is better'". However, as a proud black woman, who loves my naturally kinky hair, I disagree. What makes African American women so unique is our ability to do so many different things with our hair! Whether we wear it short, long, kinky, straight, locs or bald, Black women not only love their hair, but more women of different backgrounds and races are becoming more willing to try extensions, perms, locs and braids. What some people fail to understand is the world is evolving! Old fashion wigs become lacefronts, and if anyone knows anything about wigs its Housewives of Atlanta's own Kim! Therefore, I believe its important for people that whether our hair is permed, dyed, extended, worn with a wig, locs etc, it doesn't make make you any less or more 'Black'. As an Black women, I'd like to think of myself as being diverse in my abilities to transform from one way to the next, so why does that make me any less than who I am?

Id like to close with a popular song by India Arie entitled "I am not my hair" I think she said it best:
Little girl with the press and curl
Age eight I got a Jheri curl
Thirteen I got a relaxer
I was a source of so much laughter
At fifteen when it all broke off
Eighteen and went all natural
February two thousand and two
I went and did
What I had to do
Because it was time to change my life
To become the women that I am inside
Ninety-seven dreadlock all gone
I looked in the mirror
For the first time and saw that HEY....

[Chorus]
I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations no no
I am not my hair
I ma not this skin
I am a soul that lives within

[Talking:]
What'd she do to her hair? I don't know it look crazy
I like it. I might do that.
Umm I wouldn't go that far. I know .. ha ha ha ha

[Verse 2]
Good hair means curls and waves
Bad hair means you look like a slave
At the turn of the century
Its time for us to redefine who we be
You can shave it off
Like a South African beauty
Or get in on lock
Like Bob Marley
You can rock it straight
Like Oprah Winfrey
If its not what's on your head
Its what's underneath and say HEY....

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)
Does the way I wear my hair make me a better person?
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)
Does the way I wear my hair make me a better friend? Oooh
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)
Does the way I wear my hair determine my integrity?
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)
I am expressing my creativity..
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)

[Verse 3]
Breast Cancer and Chemotherapy
Took away her crown and glory
She promised God if she was to survive
She would enjoy everyday of her life ooh
On national television
Her diamond eyes are sparkling
Bald headed like a full moon shining
Singing out to the whole wide world like HEY...

[Chorus 2x]

[Ad lib]
If I wanna shave it close
Or if I wanna rock locks
That don't take a bit away
From the soul that I got
Dat da da dat da [4x]
If I wanna where it braided
All down my back
I don't see what wrong with that
Dat da da dat da [4x]

[Talking:]
Is that India.Arie?
Ooh look she cut her hair!
I like that, its kinda PHAT
I don't know if I could do it.
But it looks sharp, it looks nice on her
She got a nice shaped head
She got an apple head
I know right?
It's perfect.
